June 29, 1938: "Al Williams was placed on the Blacktail lookout last Monday." (The Daily Inter Lake)
September 26, 1950: "The road from the F.L. Babcock place at the head of Lake Mary Ronan, to the Blacktail mountain lookout has been completed.
This road is approximately 11 miles in length and was put in by the Northern Montana Forestry association under the direction of Chief Warden Maurice Boorman of Kalispell. The work was done by Melville Menli of Proctor.
The new road shortens the time of getting to the lookout, in case of fire, by about one-half day. It also eliminates having to pack in to the lookout with horses." (The Daily Inter Lake)
