May 25, 1936: "Pete Calder of Pleasant Valley is in the city on business. He will be employed this season by the Northern Montana Forestry association at Haskell lookout." (The Daily Inter Lake)
July 16, 1937: "Fires were started by the minor electrical storm which passed over the area yesterday afternoon. A.E. Boorman, secretary of the association stated that Pete Calder, lookout man stationed at the Haskell mountain lookout station, was brought to Kalispell yesterday on account of illness and his post was taken over by Harry Fulmer." June 29, 1938: "With the placement of a lookout on Haskell mountain today, the fire suppression setup for the Northern Montana Forestry association has been completed, it was announced this morning by Secretary A.E. Boorman. The association now has a crew of 22 men stationed throughout the Kalispell district of the association.
Harry Fulmer will be in charge of the Haskell lookout." (The Daily Inter Lake)
September 9, 1938: "The regular fire protection force, however, lookouts, smoke chasers, packers, ranger alternates and others, will be kept intact for several weeks yet, it was said.
Three members of the emergency fire protection force of the State Forestry department were released and the Northern Montana Forestry association will probably release some of its emergency force in about as week. No lookout will be sent to Haskell mountain following the vacancy left at the station there through the illness last week of the regular lookout guard." (The Daily Inter Lake)
September 7, 1961: "Eugene Woody spent the weekend at his home at the Flathead Hobby Museum. He has been stationed at the Haskell Pass Lookout near Marion during the fire season." (The Flathead Courier)
September 9, 1965: "Eugene Woody recently returned from Haskell Pass Lookout out of Kila. The rains made a lookout attendant unnecessary. Gene had been there to fill a vacancy for Northern Montana Forestry Assn." (The Flathead Courier)
October 12, 1967: "Eugene Woody is one of the happiest men in our area as he was released from the Haskell Pass Forest Lookout. He spent much of the summer as a lookout for the Northern Montana Forestry Assn. and with the extremely late hot dry weather he said that his feelings had reached a point similar to that of a prisoner in solitary confinement."
