May 16, 1947: "First of Glacier national park's married couple lookouts, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Hays reported to the park Wednesday.
Former University of Minnesota students, the Hayes are among the 11 couples who will have summer jobs in Glacier as mountain top forest fire lookouts. Their station will be on Porcupine ridge overlooking Waterton lake, which is partially in the United States, and partially in Canada's Waterton national park.
Until mid-June, Hayes will be assigned to trail maintenance, and then he and his bride, a former Navy Wave, will move to the 14 by 14-foot glass walled lookout station on top of Porcupine ridge. They've just completed their honeymoon." (Hungry Horse News)

July 28, 1950: "Dick Conn came down from his Porcupine ridge lookout, Monday, for an important reason. He accepted a position as assistant curator at the museum in Spokane. Dick graduated from the University of Washington, majoring in anthropology." (Hungry Horse News)
