IRVINE
Lake County - Flathead Indian Agency - 23N-22W-18
May 3, 1939: "Work was started this week by the Indian C.C.C. department on the erection of two 50-foot steel tower lookouts in this section. One is being erected on the Irvine Flats section and the other on the north side of the Big Draw section.
Roads to the two lookout sites were constructed last year and after the completion of the lookout stations, telephone lines will be installed.
It is expected that work on the lookouts will be completed about July 1.
With conditions unusually dry for this time of the year, Indian officials fear a busy fire season this year." (The Independent Record)
