May 7, 1934: "A forest service crew is building a new lookout on Bar Z peak. There will be a 30-foot tower topped with a house and living quarters. It is to be completed for use this season." (Kalispell Daily Inter Lake)
July 30, 1936: "Miss Hildred James visited with her brother, Roland James, who is stationed on Bar Z lookout this week." (The Missoulian)
October 9, 1940: “Foreman Ben Cox, with four CCC enrollees, is busy constructing a lookout on Pine Mountain, approximately 1 ¼ miles from the point which has been occupied by the Barzee Lookout during a number of years past. Barzee did not have a regular lookout cabin, was provided only with a tent. The new lookout at Pine Mountain was not usable until clearing had been done to provide necessary visibility.” (The Sanders County Independent-Ledger)

NATIONAL FOREST ON A BARE N-S RIDGE, 4-1/2 MILES SE OF YAKT,
9 MILES NE OF BEND GUARD STATION, AND 3 MILES S OF W END
OF MC GREGOR LAKE. THE TOP OF THE TOWER WAS INTERSECTED.
