August 24, 1951: " 'Toad' Paullin and Dispatcher Bob Jordan recently made a trip to Forks lookout to make repairs on the building and tower. Strong winds and deep snows cause damage to towers left unoccupied year after year. Forks is about nine miles west of Big creek, and is so named because it is near the forks of Big creek and Hollowat creek." (Hungry Horse News)
September 7, 1973: "Flathead National Forest and Montana Division of Forestry personnel reported today Thursday night's lightning storm caused 25 new fires in the area, but the moisture received is assisting fire fighters' efforts.
Only one of the fires reported was larger than one acre. The rest were less than one acre.
The largest fire was in the Forks Lookout area of the Glacier View Ranger District on the Flathead National Forest the dispatcher said." (The Daily Inter Lake)
