June 15, 1968: "A rampaging grizzly bear has caused about $400 damage to the Kah Mountain lookout station in the Flathead National Forest.
Ranger E. J. Kinsman of Hungry Horse District, said Dave Creighton, engineer, and Don Temple, fire control officer, found the damage when they checked the lookout up the Flathead River's South Fork.
The grizzly had gone up the steps, torn the door off, pushed out two sets of windows, and broken 16 window panes on all sides of the cabin.
He left his tooth mark punched through the propane refrigerator which was torn loose from tubing, and tore out the control panel. Groceries left in the tower were scattered over the floor, and several catwalk planks were torn off." (The Semi-Weekly Spokesman-Review)
