July 16, 1930: “A ready-cut lookout house is being packed to Penrose Peak where it will be set up. Many of the lookout peaks that have only had tents for living.” (The Sanders County Independent-Ledger)
September 24, 1930: “The work of installing four ready cut lookout houses has been finished. The buildings were put on Squaw Peak in the Noxon district, Seven Point Peak in the Trout Creek district, and at Big Hole and Penrose Peaks in the Plains district.” (The Sanders County Independent-Ledger)

August 17, 1932: “John Deal, the lookout at Penrose Peak was sent to a fire along the C. C. Divide. While traveling to the fire he fell about five feet off a windfall bruising his thigh, wrenching his arm and possibly causing internal injuries. He had some difficulty in returning to the Penrose Lookout. Replacements were sent out and Deal was brought in to Plains and sent to Thornton Hospital at Missoula for treatment.” (The Sanders County Independent-Ledger)
