September 15, 1928: "A total of 13 guard cabins and lookout stations have been completed or are nearing completion on the Lolo forest this year as part of the most ambitious improvement program ever attempted by the Lolo National forest, it was announced yesterday by Supervisor C. D. Simpson who has just returned from an inspection trip over the river districts.

April 4, 1934: "Materials for 10 new lookout towers and observatory building to be placed on the Lolo national forest this spring and summer have been ordered. One location will be: Frenchtown district--Edith peak." (The Missoulian)
September 26, 1935: "W.C. Tetrault of Frenchtown entered St. Patrick's hospital Wednesday to receive treatment for an injury to his eye, suffered when he was struck by a piece of wood which he was cutting at the Edith peak lookout on September 3.
