July 1, 1974: "Vandals heavily damaged two of the reservation's four fire lookouts over the winter.
Law and Order Chief Lloyd Jackson said that fire crews found Pistol Creek lookout above Ravalli 'nearly destroyed' and extensive damage to the Ervine lookout on the north end of the reservation when they prepared to open them last month.
Jackson said the stove, paneling, cabinets, windows and a firefinder were broken and thrown out of the Pitol creek structure. He said that vandals also broke into the Ervine lookout and took a fire finder, a range finding device, and busted up equipment and fixtures within the building." (Char-Koosta News)
