MEAGHER COUNTY
DAISY PEAK
Lewis and Clark National Forest
October 25, 1936: "The last three months, the ERA crew at the Musselshell station, has been working on the truck road to the top of Daisy peak. This road when completed, will make accessible a remote section of the forest which in the past has been impassable for wheeled vehicles. It also will lessen the fire hazard in this district.
A new lookout tower is to be transported to Daisy peak and assembled, providing the district with a modern tower and equipment." (Montana Butte Standard)

October 4, 1936: "Bears are chasing men again, Dale Cameron, Daisy Peak lookout in Harlowton on trail maintenance work, reports.
Caught a short distance from his cabin recently, Mr. Cameron was chased by a mother bear. Whirling and shooting at the bear, 20 feet away, Mr. Cameron caused her to flee into nearby timber.
During the summer the lookout took several wild shots at a mountain lion near Daisy Peak." (Montana Butte Standard)

June 13, 1937: "Musselshell District No. 6 is now completing the last of the ERA work which has been assigned for this year. Wheatland county men only have been employed. In this last shift, which differs somewhat from former practice, men have been busy on range improvements in the Castles and western portions of the Belts, on telephone lines and road work. Practically all drift fence and range are in perfect condition for the coming season. It is planned to have the Daisy Peak road, started in the fall of 1936, sufficiently completed for use during this shift. The road will make it possible to drive a car to the top of Daisy Peak lookout, near before possible." (Montana Butte Standard)
