August 13, 1937: "Dale White of Missoula, 24-year-old forest service lookout whose station is atop Belmont peak in the Lolo forest, reported he was slashed across the face with a knife by an Indian game law violator. White said he met the Indian carrying a grouse killed out of season, and that the Indian knifed him when he attempted to make an arrest." (Billings Gazette)
