April 4, 1934: "Materials for 10 new lookout towers and observatory building to be placed on the Lolo national forest this spring and summer have been ordered. One location will be: Superior district--Landowner mountain." (The Missoulian)
1934: A 30-foot round timber tower with an L-4 lookout cab constructed, replaced an earlier log cabin with open cupola observation on the roof and a pole observation tower.
September 1, 1935: "Miss Mary Castles Sunday visited her brother, Erwin, lookout of Landowner peak. Erwin accompanied his sister back to Superior, stopping on the way to visit Bud LaCombe, lookout on Illinois peak, and Art Olson, stationed on Birch ridge. Then on to Fly Camp lookout, where Wesley Castles is stationed, a trip of 52 miles' hiking." (The Missoulian)
September 22, 1935: "Most of the Lookout men have returned from their posts in the forests. Lester Ellingson from Landowner lookout." (The Missoulian)
August 31, 1939: "Carl Creagar left Tuesday for his work as lookout at Landowner peak near Alberton after a brief visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Creagar, here." (Ravalli Republican)
2000: All structures on the ridge were destroyed in a wildfire.
