September 27, 1933: "Only four forest patrol trips for fire danger were necessary out of Spokane this summer, Mr. Flint, who has been observer for air patrol in this region since its inception said. Supplies and material were flown to inaccessible regions, with Robert Johnson of Missoula last week completing the transport of a 40-foot lookout tower to Cayuse, on the Clearwater forest." March 23, 1934: "Construction of a road from the Nine Mile region to the Cayuse hill lookout on the Lolo forest south of the Nine Mile CCC camp was started Thursday by a force of Civilian Conservation workers. This is one of the spring projects to be completed before the camp is evacuated for the summer." (The Daily Missoulian)
